AUKTools Dowel Maker
The AUKTools Dowel Maker makes producing dowels in various sizes a breeze. You can create dowels to whatever length you require and in whichever timber you choose. All you require is the jig and a power drill.
The Dowel Maker can produce dowels in 8 metrics sizes ranging from 8mm up to 20mm and uses a carbide cutter, similar to those used on carbide turning tools leaving a clean and crisp finish to your dowel. Set the cutter position using the two allen head machine screws with the supplied allen wrench. When the cutter gets dull simply loosen the torx head screw with the suppled torx wrench and turn the cutter through 90 degrees for a fresh edge.
Secure your slightly oversized stock into your drill chuck using the supplied drill bit and stock shank, and cut a chamfer onto your stock's lead-in face. Feed the stock into the Dowel Maker maintaining a flat level and consistent pressure.
Countersunk holes in the base of the dowel jig allow you to secure the jig to your bench with the supplied wood screws or maybe create your own jig-holding system to hold the Dowel Maker in your vice.
